EMILY FLEGG is a semi-professional footballer originally from Crawley.
During her youth career she played for local sides like Crawley Wasps, before being invited to a trial at Brighton and Hove Albion aged 14.
She made it to stage 2 of that trial, including a tour around their facilities.
That was not the end of her opportunities, as upon leaving school she was invited to be a part of the Chelsea development foundation which combined her love for football as well as continuing her education.
Flegg moved to Southampton to follow her education, and study Exercise therapy and nutrition.
In this she had to leave the opportunities in … behind, but in joining local club Southampton Women’s Sirens she has the chance to step back into first team football at a high level (the fourth division in the Women’s pyramid).
She has recently made her first team debut for the sirens, and she has also scored eight goals so far this season for the University team as they remain undefeated so far.
Flegg is hopeful of going into the professional game, and follow many of her ex-Brighton and Chelsea team mates into the world of full time football.
