PORTSMOUTH are still without a win since before the October International break, and currently sit 20th in the EFL Championship.
A 1-0 victory at home to Middlesbrough on October 4th was the last time the Blues earned three points.
Since then, Pompey have only picked up two points out of a possible 15, conceding eight goals in five matches.
Going into Wednesday’s 0-0 draw at home to Wrexham, John Mousinho’s side were heavily defeated 4-0 by Birmingham City on Saturday.
Usual starters Josh Murphy, Colby Bishop, and Ipswich Town loanee Connor Chaplin were rested in the West Midlands last weekend, but were back in the XI in midweek.
Speaking on the difference the trio can make, head coach John Mousinho believes: “I think we’ve tried to press sides aggressively, whether we’ve had the personnel to do it or not.
Maybe we’ve had players in that aren’t quite used to pressing the way that we want to press, and that’s something that we’re going to try and get the squad up to speed with.
If you look at Colby and Murph, they’ve done it for at least a year, Colby for a lot longer with me and with the coaching staff here, so he’s got a good idea of what we want to achieve.
And I think Chaplin has done it for a number of years with different clubs and knows what he’s coming into.”
Mousinho added: “We have wanted to be a bit more aggressive and pressed higher up, and I think we’ve needed to do that, particularly at home last night.
The press definitely helped to really twitch us into a much more aggressive mode.”
