WALES welcome Poland to the Cardiff City Stadium tonight in the final play-off round of Path A, with the winner earning one of the three remaining spots for Euro 2024.
Rob Page’s side breezed past Finland 4-1 in the semi-finals, with their visitors also barely breaking stride by beating Estonia 5-1.
A win for The Dragons would see them reach their third successive European Championship – some achievement considering they hadn’t even qualified before this.
Wales enter this highly-anticipated final on a seven-match unbeaten run, albeit failing to keep a clean sheet in the last four.
Despite this, Page has been pleased with the performances.
Speaking in his press conference, he said: “It would be a great achievement for us to qualify. Whenever you go through a campaign, you’re always going to get bumps in the road, especially in transition, and we had one in the summer.
“What pleases me is the reaction we had since then. To go unbeaten in seven and to play in the manner we’ve done. It really, really pleases me.
“I’d be an extremely proud man if we get the job done.”
As for Poland, they would reach their fifth successive European Championship if they break Welsh hearts, with Michal Probierz’s side also on an unbeaten run themselves, avoiding defeat in their last five.
Poland may come into the game as favourites, but Wales will certainly be hoping to use the home crowd to their advantage, losing just one of their last 15 qualifiers at the Cardiff City Stadium.
This is something Page recognises, with the manager saying: “It’s an incredible record and our supporters are massive.
“They took the roof off with the anthem the other day. Bring it on again Tuesday. Let’s use that to our benefit to get across the line.”
