Totton plummet the Hawks to a new low

AFC Totton claim a shock victory over National League South strugglers Havant and Waterlooville to reach the third round of the FA trophy

On a gloomy afternoon at the Snows stadium the stags inflict more misery on the Hawks as their horror start to the season continues extending their winless run to now 13 games with manager Stephen King now under serious pressure having yet to win a game as manager since he became manager in September.

The Stags victory was fully deserved winning 2-1 through goals from Jordan Chiedozie and Joe Turner as they looked the higher league opposition instead of their opponents.

The hosts got off to a flying start with the first chance of the game resulting in the first goal through Jordan Chiedozie who was found after a ball over the top from Sam Magri reached him beating the offside trap with Havant defender Yoan Zouma playing the winger onside until he smashed it past the keeper with a great finish.

The game produced a frantic start to the game with end-to-end action with both goalkeepers being pulled into making great saves. Whilst Totton had many penalty appeals turned away from the referee most notably a handball within the area which left many Totton fans outraged by the decision.

Against the run of play striker Muhammad Faal turned his defender then chipped the ball over keeper Lewis Noice finding Ryan Seager who was unmarked and found the back of the net with a cool finish from the ex-Southampton Striker to find the equaliser with him managing to beat three Totton players on the goal line to.

For the rest of the half, it was the Visitors who was on top forcing Noice into some quality saves most notably from a Jack Jebb free kick in which he made a sensational save tipping his effort onto the bar as it went into half time 1-1.

In the Second half it was the hosts who came out the traps quickest with their being a flurry of massive chances resulting in some defending from the hawks with some great blocks.

After some sustained pressure, the resilience finally broke after a great advantage from the referee as Liam Maloney was bought down in the area, but he let play continue with the ball falling to Joe Turner who poked it into the bottom corner with an excellent strike.

For the rest of the game, it was the Stags who continued to dominate having many chances to kill of the game off forcing Havant Captain Ross Worner into making some crucial saves. In the end it did not matter as Totton hung onto record a 2-1 Victory and only reach the third round for the second time in the club’s history.

Many Totton fans will be eagerly excited for the next rounds draw as they hope to get a big draw with the fixture taking place on the weekend commencing of the 9th of December.
