Thomas Tuchel leading the Three Lions

AFTER Gareth Southgate parted ways as England’s manager after the loss against Spain in the Euro 2024 Final, England has been on the new manager hunt ever since.

Southgate led England to the 2018 Fifa World Cup Semi-Finals, UEFA Euro 2020 Final, 2022 World Cup Quarter Finals, and the UEFA Euro 2024 Final, but struggled for gold.

Tuchel – who has a German passport – was announced as the new England coach on Wednesday with an 18-month contract, but the Thomas Tuchel era begins in January.

Throughout Tuchel’s managerial career, he has already claimed the top prizes in club football, he has won the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup winner with the Premier League team, Chelsea. While with Chelsea he also won Worlds Best Club Coach in 2021/22.

Not only has our new manager managed in the hardest league in the world he has also been a German Champion, German Cup winner, and French champion.

The 51-year-old spoke about Gareth Southgate’s success as manager, he said:

“We will build on (Southgate’s culture). Gareth and the FA did a fantastic job in terms of stability and consistency. You look at the last results and tournaments, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and two finals at the last four tournaments. It’s outstanding.”

Gary Neville – who has made 85 appearances for England – speaks out about how ‘damaging’ it is to appoint non-English manager, Thomas Tuchel.

The ex-English right-back spoke on Sky Sports with his thoughts on the new appointment.

He said: “I do think we are damaging ourselves accepting Thomas Tuchel is better, he is better than any of the other English coaches. But with the English coaches that have managed in the upper echelons of the league with Eddie Howe at Newcastle and Graham Potter.

“I do think there are outstanding coaches that could have been appointed that were English.”

Newcastle boss, Eddie Howe confirmed he was not interviewed for the England job after being asked in his press conference for Newcastle this morning

“I was not. There was no contact from the FA.”

The Thomas Tuchel journey will begin in January.
