Thomas Partey charged with two further counts of rape

Former Arsenal footballer Thomas Partey faces two new rape charges brought by the British Crown Prosecution Service following allegations from a fourth woman, further aggravating a case that already included multiple allegations of sexual assault.

According to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Partey, 32, has now been charged with two additional counts of rape relating to alleged incidents in 2020, which were reported to the Metropolitan Police last August.

These new allegations are considered ‘non-recent offences’ and are in addition to the existing charges, bringing to four the number of women who claim to have been victims of sexual offences by the Ghanaian international.

Partey is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 13 March for a first hearing in relation to these two new charges.

At the same time, the player already has a trial scheduled before a High Court judge at Southwark Crown Court on 2 November 2026, which will address the five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault to which he pleaded not guilty last September.

The initial charges, authorised by the CPS in July 2025, include five alleged counts of rape and one of sexual assault against three women, for incidents that allegedly took place between 2021 and 2022, when Partey was playing for Arsenal.

The investigation was launched in February 2022 after the police received the first report of rape, and has since been expanded with new statements and lines of inquiry.

After his contract with Arsenal expired at the end of the 2023-24 season, Partey left the north London club and was formally charged just days after becoming a free agent.

Since then, the Ghanaian midfielder has continued his career in LaLiga, where he plays for Villarreal on a one-year contract, signed while the initial allegations were already underway and amid growing public scrutiny of his legal situation.
