This Premier League striker is on the verge of HISTORY

IGOR THIAGO has claimed his second Premier League Player of the Month trophy of the season, after a five goal January. After already becoming the first Brazilian to pick up multiple awards in the same campaign, he is very close to another record.

Thiago has scored an incredible 17 league goals this season, leaving him in second place on the scoring charts, only behind Erling Haaland, who’s on 22.

Brentford currently sit seventh on 40 points, two behind defending champions Liverpool, and are in a great position to qualify in the European spots come May – and Thiago has played a crucial role in that.

After suffering a severe meniscus injury during pre-season in July 2024, he was ruled out for the entirety of last season, and I don’t think anyone expected a reaction like this.

By far the surprise story of the season, the 24-year-old has exceeded all expectations, and claimed his first ever Player of the Month award in November, and won his second last Friday.

With four months of the season left, Thiago has the chance to become just the THIRD player to earn three POTM awards in the same season, joining the short list of Mohamed Salah and Marcus Rashford, and will become the first South American player to do so.

The Egyptian won his during his debut 2017/18 season for Liverpool, claiming his awards in November & December 2017, and later on in March 2018.

Rashford won his three during the 2022/23 season with Manchester United, winning his first in September 2022, and the others in January & February 2023.

With just four awards up for grabs before the end of the season, could Igor Thiago get his hands on another, or will he fall just short?
