WITH the second semester well and truly underway, the Solent badminton team have opened their re-trialing process for any students looking to join.
Since the start of this year, the society have struggled to bring in new players, so much so that they haven’t been able to carry over the women’s team from last season.
Therefore for the rest of the campaign the Solent badminton team are looking to attract new players in the hope of forming a women’s side.
The girls who are already part of the society only have the option to train each Thursday from 17:00 – 18:30 in the Solent Sports Complex.
Eva Cumiskey, who is on the social committee, has launched weekly Wednesday socials for the society.
However the invitation isn’t just restricted to the badminton team, as anyone who is thinking of joining can come along and meet the players on the team.
The Solent Badminton men’s team compete in the British Universities and Colleges Sports (BUCS) and have played four games so far this season.
President Matt Wilson, who was the media secretary last year, has played in three out of these four games.
Matt will be hoping that the new year will bring with it an influx in players, which will finally allow the women’s team to be reinstated.
Both Matt and Eva featured on our podcast which focuses on what the club are doing to recruit players and who can join the society.
