Southampton Sunday League Round-Up

LINDEN Tree blasted their way into the semi-finals of the Southampton Sunday Senior Cup, thanks to Joe Davis’s hat-trick in their 6-0 thumping of Athletic Millbrook. 

In the only quarter-final not to go to spot-kicks, Josh Rose, Charlie Rattley and Reece Griffiths rounded off the rout. 

AFC Taurus were locked at 4-4 at full-time with Southern Sports Youth, thanks to Ash Madden’s hat-trick and a single from Louis England. Neither fancied penalties as Taurus cruised through the shoot-out 4-1, with Charlie Cornish, Thomas Farrell, Nick von Bismark and Ryan Friday on the money. 

Goalless deadlock at full-time between Monks Brook and AFC Hutwood, but Brook booked their semi-final spot as Richard Wagstaffe, Tom Noyce, Tom Ashton and Dan Strange slotted from the spot, with David Douglas, Joseph Happle and Robert Owen replying for Hutwood. 

Matthew Ley fired AFC Marchwood into the semi-finals of the Junior A cup against AFC Boyatt in the only quarter-final not to be settled from the spot. 

Bursledon Men’s Liam Higgins and Josh Jones took their tie against Fraggle Rock to extra-time, but despite Stephan Bokula and Nana Ansah-Addo netting from the spot, they lost the shoot-out 3-2. 

Jake Dellimore’s double took Pavilion Panthers to a shoot-out against Hythe Town (Brandon Hill, Charlie Kent). Dellimore slotted from the spot, along with Max Pitman and Demetrius Gibbs, only for Lewis Walker, Reece Macey, Taylor White and Chad White to convert from 12 yards to send Hythe through. 

Luke Biffen and Tyler Butler took Sporting Compass to 2-2 against Unathletic Athletic (Chris Spanner, Liam Cummerson) and both converted in the shoot-out, along with Billy McCall to book their semi-final berth with a 3-2 shoot-out victory, Tom Sketcher and Dom Hardy replying for Athletic. 

No shoot-out required in the Junior B Cup quarterfinals. Owen Plunkett (2) and Jake Parker eased NMCR into the last four with a 3-0 win over Chandler’s Ford, while Charlie Newcombe and Dylan Male saw Noble Arms Sunday edge out Waterside Wanderers (Daniel Pinckney) 2-1. 

Southern Sports regained top spot in Division on goal difference with a 3-2 win over West Totton Wanderers, Andy Powell, Jack Rooke and Matt Casey nabbed the points for Southern, with Owen Hurst and Sam Adams replying for Wanderers, Southern lead from Townhill who have two games in hand. 

GTFC clambered over Southern Sports Youth to gain leadership of Division Two, with a 3-1 win over Mottisfont. Brandon Williams, Rudy Owens and Louis Holt notched for GTFC, Jack Lawrence for ‘Font. 

Hop Inn are still looking for their first point of the season after goals from Lyndhurst’s Jason Munday, Toby Cole, Jack Ison and Aaron Heskins sent them tumbling to a 4-1 defeat, their fifth successive, Harry Bartlett provided scant consolation. 

In Division Three, Keenan Gibson netted four and missed a penalty in Newton Heath’s 6-4 win over Montfort. Jonathan Akihito (2), Niall Devereaux and Thomas Nichols struck for Montfort, Ryan Ivory and Mike Feeney completed the scoring for Newton Heath who are one of four teams locked at the top on nine points. 

Embley Park posted their first win of the season as Joe Donworth, Jordan Evans and Zac Anderson earned a 3-1 win over Lyndhurst Ressies (Mark Bradley). 

Boorley Green romped to their fourth Division Four win, an 11-0 thumping of Star Romsey which leaves them glued pointless to the foot of the table. William Purdey’s hat-trick led the way, accompanied by a Luke Stroud double and singles from Owen Roles, Rico Dunnvicher, Ollie Shapland, Charlie Gardner, Nathan Buckle and Harry Strugnell. 

Nathan Howton and Glenn Littleboy earned Cottage their first Division Five win of the campaign, a 2-0 victory over Lakeside Sunday. 

FC Phoenix are rooted to the foot of Division Six after goals from Hearts Athletic’s Jay Barnes and Brenton McLean condemned them to a sixth straight defeat. Jack Castle’s penalty provided scant consolation for Phoenix. 

Division Seven leaders M&T Sunday suffered a setback as they were thumped 4-0 by Solent Sports butchers. Kamil Nawabzada, Thanos Papadimoulos, Freddie Vine and Kalan Spencer wrought the damage. 

Pavilion Panthers Reserves won the mid-table tussle with Fleming Athletic 5-3, with Jimmy Bright’s hat-trick and singles from Jack Bushby and Louis Huckle sealing the points, with Gregory Plowman, James Watson and Callum Watson replying. 

Blackfield & Langley B were guilty of domestic abuse as they thrashed Blackfield & Langley Youth 15-2. James Duell scored twice for B&L youth, but it was poor consolation as Jack Hallett rattled in six, accompanied by a James Rawlings hat-trick with Luke Arrowsmith, Dan Yovcher, Josh Young and Sean Lakeman adding singles, along with an own goal. 

Bedes Lea made it five wins from five at the top of Division Eight, but it required a Rupert Gay strike to see off AFC Woodside Reserves. 

Harefield United continue to improve after a shaky start, with Justin Kimathi (2), Jake Scorey and Joseph Stratford sealing a 4-2 win over Boorley Green B (James Mills, Liam Dummett, pen).
