Southampton fail to win for eighth time this season

THE south coast side hosted Swansea City at St Mary’s stadium in their tenth game of the campaign which resulted in a disappointing 0-0 draw for the home side.

Saints ended the match with a staggering 21 shots and 3.1 expected goals compared to the swans two shots and 0.2 expected goals.

The absence of Ross Stewart was dearly felt and the striker is not expected to return until the new year.

Adam Armstrong, who was a vital part to the sides play-off winning campaign two seasons ago, contributed to six of Saints’ shots and is struggling to re-discover his previous goal scoring form.

Leo Scienza and Casper Jander both struck the post with the latter doing so in front of an open net.

The lack of prowess in front of goal is a cause for concern for both Saints fans and manager Will Still.

Still will be hoping that his attacking players can come into form to take some of the heat away from him as some fans start to question whether he is the right man for the job.

Southampton currently sit in 16th place in the Championship, already ten points behind leaders Middlesborough.
