Simakan and Ronaldo score as Al Nassr cruise past Al Fateh

AL NASSR eased past Al Fateh 3-1 at Al Awaal Park on Sunday night, with Mohamed Simakan getting his first goal for the club.

A dull first half caught life in the 40th minute as Ângelo’s shot was saved by Szappanos before his cross was turned into the goal by Al Fateh’s Saadane to give Al Nassr the lead.

Al Nassr were close to doubling their lead, Brozović was set up by Ronaldo however his finesse shot was brillaintly saved by Szappanos.

Ronaldo thought he had opened his account for the evening in the 46th minute. His acrobatic shot looped over the keeper and looked like it bounced over the line but the Hawk-eye system confirmed it hadn’t.

Just a minute later Ronaldo should have doubled Al Nassr’s lead, a smart cut back was placed perfectly to Ronaldo on the 6 yard box, but skied the shot into the ultras section behind the goal.

Al Nassr did get their second, Ângelo’s free kick was perfectly placed into the 6 yard box and Simakan’s powerful header was completely unstoppable.

Al Fateh were handed a life line, as Bento decided to try out dribble the entire Al Fateh team before being dispossessed and Mourad Batna made no mistake scoring into an empty net.

Al Nassr’s brief concern was then put to rest by Cristiano Ronaldo. Mane’s smart pass to Ronaldo was too good an opportunity for the Portuguese who made Al Fateh pay.

Ronaldo thought he had two on the night, however his stunning last second strike was chalked off by the Semi-Automated offside technology for what to be a marginal offside decision.

Al Nassr rise to 3rd in the league table, meanwhile Al Fateh are glued to the bottom of the league and are looking to be in serious trouble.
