SCOTLAND will meet Germany in the men’s final of the European Curling Championship after a dramatic 10-8 win over Switzerland in their semi-final.
Defending champion Bruce Mouat and his team led 8-5 going into the final end, but a crucial mistake from Mouat allowed Switzerland to level the score.
Despite the pressure, The Scots held their nerve to win after an extra end to progress into the final.
Germany, who were thrashed by Scotland 12-5 in the round-robin, swiftly beat Norway 8-2 in just eight ends to secure their place in the final.
The anticipated final will be shown live at 13:00 GMT on BBC Scotland, iPlayer, and the BBC Sport website and app. Mouat, Grant Hardie, Bobby Lammie, and Hammy McMillan aim for their fifth European title in a row.
Meanwhile, Scotland’s women will play Italy for the bronze medal after a harrowing 6-4 loss to Sweden. Swedish skip Anna Hasselborg played a pivotal role and made a crucial shot in the end to seal the win. Despite outplaying their opponents in several areas, Scotland couldn’t close out the game, with Rebecca Morrison’s final shot falling just short.
“We’re disappointed with the semi-final result but we’ll focus on the bronze medal match and hope to finish strong,” said Morrison, hoping to bounce back for a podium finish.
Sweden, advancing to the women’s final, will not take on Switzerland for the gold medal.
All eyes will be on Scotland’s men and women, who are both looking to finish the tournament on a high, with Scotland’s men aiming for another European title and the women determined to claim a well-deserved bronze
