Ryan Seager’s Crazy Non-League Record & New Contract

UPON Havant and Waterlooville’s relegation from the National League South last season, it was imperative they retained any experienced player they could to avoid any further disaster.

Ex-Saints striker Ryan Seager was an obvious ‘must keep’, with a long history of upper non-league and EFL experience under his belt.

While unable to become a first-team regular at Saints, Seager emerged as a top prospect in a period where the club were fighting toward the upper-end of the Premier League, a clear display in the talent he possessed.

Seager is currently the top scorer in the Southern League with 30 goals in 27 matches this season, bringing his total to 75 goals in 94 games for The Hawks.

Having enjoyed a successful two-year spell at fellow National League South side Hungerford Town, before joining newly promoted National League team Dorking Wanders for a singular campaign, Seager searched for a new club to call ‘home’.

Havant & Waterlooville general manager, Gary Pratt, said: “He’s been well known to the club, being locally based in the Hampshire area.

“He was made available by Dorking, and we never looked back since!”

Seager has since been appointed as the club captain and signed a contract extension last week, keeping him at the club until 2028, much to the delight of fans of The Hawks.

The Hawks sit 9th in the division, seven points away from playoff positions, a charge spearheaded by their striker.

A fan who spoke to Solent Sports News, said: “He’s a great player, great captain and a brilliant teammate as captain.

“He’s leading the squad up the table even further – he’s deadly for any defence to deal with!”

Seager made two appearances for The Saints, both in 2015.

He came on against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup and was also introduce in added time of a Premier League loss to Swansea City.

The striker joined Saints as an eight year-old, eventually leaving after 15 years involving numerous loans and serious injuries.

He also earned two caps for England’s under-17s.
