Preview: Maidenhead United vs Ebbsfleet United

THE race for promotion in the National League South will go down to the wire and this evening’s game between Maidenhead United and Ebbsfleet United could play a key role in this race come the end of the season.

The two sides are level on points as things stand with the Magpies edging the Fleet on goal difference, albeit the Berkshire side have a game in hand.

Maidenhead currently occupy sixth position in the standings whilst Ebbsfleet occupy the final play-off place in seventh.

Heading into this evening’s promotion chasing clash, the home side have the advantage of form in recent weeks having lost just once in their previous 10 fixtures and recording six wins during this period.

The Fleet, on the other hand, were defeated by league leaders Dorking Wanderers on Saturday following two wins on the bounce.

Prior to this, however, the Kent side’s last victory came in mid-February at home to AFC Totton.

Having already been postponed on three occasions this season, this fixture will be the second time in less than two months in which these sides have faced each other.

The reverse fixture in January saw the Fleet claim all three points thanks to three second-half goals as they strolled to a 3-0 victory.

In the previous meetings between the two respective teams, the Kent side have edged the results winning eight times compared to the Magpies five.

There have also been six games which finished all square.

However, the Fleet’s last victory at York Road came in January 2024, and so Josh Wright’s side will be hoping to put this unwanted record to bed and secure all three points this evening.

Solent Sports News will be reporting live from the match tonight, and you can tune into both radio and TV shows for live reports via YouTube.
