Play-Off Race Heats Up: Bristol City vs AFC Wrexham Preview

Bristol City vs Wrexham

EIGHTH versus ninth in the EFL Championship as Bristol City welcome Hollywood-backed AFC Wrexham to Ashton Gate in a match where the victor will rise into the top six.

Both sides come into this crucial clash in fine form, with The Robins securing a well-fought win over automatic promotion hopefuls Hull City, while the Welsh side gained entry into the last 16 of the FA Cup for the first time in almost 30 years.

The hosts have been up and around the play-off places for a majority of the campaign, and tonight offers a perfect opportunity to rise back into the top six; facing a Wrexham side who are well and truly in the hunt for a fourth-straight promotion, it is sure to be a very steep task.

The Red Dragons do boast a relatively mediocre away record, however, they have won each of their last four on the road, while Bristol City have experienced mixed results on home soil.

Head-to-Head:

These sides have encountered each other 17 times over the years, and it often proves to be quite a one-sided affair historically.

The Robins have recorded 11 victories to Wrexham’s three, although the only clash occurring since 2005 came back in November where the Welsh side came away with the bragging rights with an impressive 2-0 win.

A Wrexham win here would mean a third league double over Bristol City, having not completed a double over them since 1981!

Key Players to Watch:
