BRITISH tennis player Katie Boulter was beaten 7-5 6-1 by the Belarusian three-time champion Victoria Azarenka in the fourth round of the Miami open.
Despite being knocked out the 27 year-old made history by reaching the last -16 of the tournament for the first time.
The world’s number one Azarenka, won this title in 2009, 2011 and 2016, but this is her first quarterfinal appearance since 2018.
The 34-year-old will face Yulia Putintseva in the quarter finals.
In the other third fourth round matches, American world number three, Coco Gauff, was defeated 6-3 1-6 6-2 in a shock victory by world number 23 Caroline Garcia.
Word number four Elena Rybakina claimed victory over number 17 seed Madison Keys, 6-3 7-5, meaning the Kazakhstani will face number eight seed Maria Sakkari.
Sakkari advanced to the quarter finals due to a walkover from Anna Kalinskaya due to a right thigh injury.
