Match Report: Southampton FC Women 2-1 Lewes FC

EMMA Thompson secures vital three points for the Saints with a brace at the St. Mary’s Stadium.

The last time both of the teams played, Southampton won 4-1 away at the Dripping Pan.

The Saints were dominant since the start of the match, with an absolute possession and shots on target, amazing play by Lucia Kendall, who finds Ella Morris, and finally tees up for Emma Thompson to open the score and her first goal for the Saints.

The second goal came from a corner, Lewes failed to clear the corner, and Emma Thompson, who doesn’t doubt, hit the net and scores her brace.

An early substitution for the Saints as Megan Collet, was forced off, due to an injury, Megan Wynne on.

Southampton, with an absolute dominance of the game, and Kayla Rendell’s saves the second half with an astonishing performance.

In the 83th minute, a battled matched between both teams, Saints have the lead but Lewes wanted the equaliser, the intesity rised at the St Mary’s Stadium.

The Saints, secured the three points at home, and remained in the third position of the Barclays Women’s Championship, giving small hopes for their promotion.
