YOUTH player Joey Rapley has rejected the chance to sign a professional contract at National League north team Kings Lynn.

As a child growing up, Joey always dreamt of making it to the professional scene of football, but after his recent rejection of a contract it’s clear to see that the dream he once had as a boy may not still be there.

While studying Sports Journalism at Solent University, Joey received an offer from a team near to his home town in Norwich but despite the offer, he felt that his career at within football may not go too far compared to if he continued his studies with Sports Journalism.

Kings Lynn offered Joey the chance to have a paid contract full time with the club, however once Joey returned back to University after the summer break he knew that he had to find a team in order to keep him sharp.

Joey decided to join a local Saturday league football team in Southampton called Michelmersh & Timsbury. After their most recent loss vs Fc Netley he said:

“I was really enjoying where I was with my university and the commitments, I chose to do something I enjoy full time.”

Despite optimism at the start of the season Joey’s first season with his new team hasn’t quite gone to plan as they currently sit second bottom with only nine points from the first 15 games.

Joey will be looking to turn things around going into the second half of the season to prove to himself that he made the correct decision.
