How Solent Sparks help students escape the pressure of university assignments

SOLENT Sparks, a football team made up of third year university students, at this time of year it is a great escape for their players to distress from the pressures that university have given them due to assignments.

Almost half of university students suffer from poor mental health as they struggle to find an outlet to keep their mind off the deadlines.

Nathan Rawlings, a third year Sports Journalism student played in a friendly for Solent Sparks Wednesday sad it was a “perfect opportunity to have fun with the boys”.

Phil Packer MBE, a founder of the BRIT Trust came into Solent University to speak on mental health.

He said: “Having activities to bring people together decreases the pressure for these students.”
