WITH looming deadlines and darker nights, students are more at risk than ever of their mental health plummeting.
In an effort to combat this, Solent University has created a host of schemes including a generous initiative for new students that entitles them to a free membership for their first semester.
Reports show us that those who take part in regular exercise can see their mental health boosted, with participation in physical activity especially prevalent for those with “mild to moderate depression” according to the NHS website.
Solent University itself boasts an impressive state-of-the-art facility situated in its sporting complex and includes a whole host of equipment for its members to enjoy.
The sports complex opened its doors in March 2019 and has over 40 different pieces of cardio equipment to aid members’ wellbeing.
“It’s a great recreational zone,” said senior gym instructor Florian Zamfir.
“We make sure their wellbeing is on top, we always have staff in the gym to facilities and have conversation and one-to-one and how they feeling and what they are actually looking to achieve in the gym.”
Solent gym is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 10.30pm, Saturday at 9:30am to 7.30pm and Sunday from 9am to 5pm. Membership prices start from £10.99 for students.
