Cole Palmer has been a revelation to Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea side since his addition in the summer, and after critics were questioning the move, it now seems they are praising the business done by the Blues.
The 21-year-old joined the West-London side for a fee of £40million after waving goodbye to his Boyhood club Manchester city who he spent 15 years with and since his arrival he has sparked a fire in Chelsea.
At first it seemed that the transfer was one of a hasty nature by Chelsea’s Todd Boehly, due to the amount of attacking talent he had already brought in during his tenure so far.
Some of these purchases include the promising Frenchman Christopher Nkunku and youngsters Noni Madueke and Mykhalio Mudryk, who can all play in the role that Palmer does.
Yet despite this squad competition, the Manchester born superstar has cemented his name onto the team sheet and among that has also been given the role at the penalty spot which he has taken into his stride and made clear to his teammates that he is the man for the job.
Palmer has contributed to eight goals in 11 matches in all competitions, his best numbers of his career yet and he doesn’t look like he is stopping anytime soon.
4 of these goals have been penalties, and big ones too earning Chelsea crucial points in the league, ultimately showing signs of a future leader.
Moments of magic from the Englishman like his penalty against City that secured a 4-4 draw for him and his side, led to his promotion from the England U-21’s to the Senior squad.
After the stellar performance against his former side, Gareth Southgate decided to add him to the list of players who took on Malta and North Macedonia in the Euro 2024 qualifiers, this being after he was originally named in the U-21 lineup.
When playing against Malta, he produced what he has done for Chelsea in recent weeks in his intent to attack, and even though he didn’t score, he showed the whole of England that they have yet another young player to get excited about.
