Hamble FC’s captain returns to fitness to take the team to victory

CAPTAIN Matt Casey returned from injury to playing a full 90 minutes to secure his team a victory.

Hamble FC met up with Colden Common in the Southampton Senior Cup, both fighting to advance, it was going to be an interesting match.

A few days before, Hamble defeated Colden Common, 3-2 but this time it was in the Russell Coates Cup which Hamble were so close to getting to the final in last season.

Despite all the injuries the club was experiencing, the newer younger players stepped up to help the team secure a victory.

During the training session before the fixture, manager of Hamble, Matthew Gregory spoke about the return of his captain, overall training and the signings of new young players.

Whilst speaking about training ahead of the new season, Gregory said: “We are doing well in the cups, probably wanting to do a little bit better in the league.”

Even though they pulled out a 1-1 draw against tough competitors, AFC Stoneham, there were still big gap missing and hopes were high that Casey’s return would close these gaps.

Whilst speaking to the manager he commented that – “He was on limited minutes for the last game, hopefully we can get the full 90 out of him tonight and see where he’s at after that.”

Even though Hamble’s captain was just returning from injury – playing his first full 90 minutes since being out, he didn’t let that stop him.

Whilst leading his team to an astonishing 12-0 over Colden Common, the midfielder managed to grab himself a brace in his return from his injury.
