Gosport Borough fans voice frustrations amid manager exit rumours

Gosport Borough Football Club has left fans in a spin after rumours of the manger leaving have been unconfirmed for days.

In non-league football honesty and openness with fans is crucial, after all these clubs run on the passion and support of their loyal fans.

Saturday’s match against Hungerford town saw manager-player Danny Hollands, affectionately known as ‘Dutchy’ absent from the dugout, his right-hand man and coach Ben Kneller was also missing.

Members of the Gosport’s 1944 and supporters club raised their frustrations with the club’s lack of transparency on the news.

Vice chairman of the Gosport Borough Supporters Club Simon Collings said: “No one knows exactly what happened, there’s so many rumours. Did he resign was he pushed; did he leave off his own accord?”

The club lost out on places in the next rounds of both the FA cup and FA trophy which means also losing out on revenue. So, keeping fans on side is more important than ever.

“I wish the club would be a bit more transparent about what’s going on behind the scenes. It’s a bit frustrating to find out you have lost your manager and other back room staff” Expressed David Penny, vice chairman of the 1944 Supporters Club.

It’s not just the diehard fans and the club insiders that have been rocked by the unanswered rumours, it’s the matchday staff, volunteers and the lifelong supporters that also feel that they are owed truth.

Catherine Collings, a lifelong fan and gate worker said: “I think there should be a bit more transparency within the club to let the people know what’s going on because we have had no confirmation yet.”

How long will the club let these rumours swirl before giving fans the truth?
