WEDNESDAY saw a fire near St Mary’s stadium take place, as a plastic factory nearby caught a light.
Thankfully there were no major injuries and the situation was sorted quickly.
Staff members working in and around the football ground were sent home early, and the game against Preston North End was postponed.
This means that there’s yet another match for Southampton to be rescheduled, with a tight and hectic fixture list already.
Southampton still have to play three teams inside the top four with Leeds, Leicester and ipswich still to play.
It will be a tough end to the season for Russell Martin’s side, and he will hope that the fixture congestion won’t affect his team too much.
