ENGLAND beat New Zealand at Allianz Stadium for the first since 2012 following a comeback full of hard work, grit and determination.

On Saturday 15th November, Steve Borthwick’s England side faced the mighty challenge of the All Blacks in the Quilter Nations Series.

England started the game brightly, but failed to convert their pressure into points and paid the price as the All Blacks scored two tries in three minutes.

Leicester Faingaanuku opened the scoring for the Kiwi’s before Cody Taylor dived over to become the All Blacks joint leading try scorer as a hooker.

England responded well and ten minutes later scored their first points of the game through centre Bath Ollie Lawrence before Sale’s George Ford slotted two drop goals on the stroke of half time.

Borthwick’s side came out flying in the second-half and scored two more unanswered tries through Bath flanker Sam Underhill and Northampton Saints centre Fraser Dingwall.

The Kiwi’s finally registered their first points since the 19th minute when winger Will Jordan dived over in the corner to leave the game in the balance.

Sale’s Tom Roebuck sealed the victory for England in the dying moments as he scored England’s fourth try of the game to give Borthwick’s side a 33-19 victory.

The victory saw England move above Ireland and up into 3rd in the World Rankings on 89.41 points and are in the perfect position 18 months out from the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.

Borthwick’s side have now won ten games on the bounce and are now second favourites to win the Six Nations next year at 11/4.
