DAN Jones has signed a contract which will see him remain a Winchester player until the summer of 2025 after being on a non-contract last season.
Jones was previously on a non-contract last season and the first half of the 2023-2024 season and his recent hard work in training has paid off and earned him a contract, seeing him become a key member of the starting lineup.
He went onto say: “Last season was an interesting one for me, I was a bit more on the sideline but I had a chat with ‘Davo’ (Craig Davis, Winchester City manager) and he said to be patient. Now I’m just trying to make the most of it, improve every game, improve in training and make the most of the opportunity.”
The 21-year-old was picked up from Aldershot U19s and has seemed to have found his feet at the Citizens after struggling to find regular game time.
Manager Craig Davis is delighted to be able to get the young midfielder on a contract, going on to say with a smile on his face: “I’m really pleased, he’s a really good lad. He needed to find his feet in adult football and we gave him that opportunity. He had to make a decision to believe in me this year to stay and he did and earned a contract.”
So far it looks like it has paid off for both the club and Dan as they are on target to beat their best league finish of 16th place.
