Connor Coghill suffers bleed on the brain in defeat to Hopey Price

Connor Coghill remains in hospital in a stable condition

British featherweight Connor Coghill is in hospital with a bleed to the brain following his defeat to Hopey Price in Sheffield on the 7th of October.

Coghill was knocked to the canvas four times during the bout before referee Bob Williams called a stoppage in the 12th and final round.

Stefy Bull who is the trainer of Coghill revealed he was ‘in hospital under observation after a scan has discovered a bleed on his brain’.

Bully revealed that his fighter had been suffering from headaches since the contest over a week ago in Sheffield’s Utilita Areana.

‘Obviously it’s devastating news for Connor as boxing has been his life since a young age.

‘He’s stable and resting and wanting people to respect his time during this difficult period.

‘Everyone at Stefy Bull Promotions are praying for a full recovery and wish him good health. We will keep you all updated.’

Coghill was knocked down in round six, 11 and then a further two times in the final 12th round before Williams had seen enough and waved off the contest.

The defeat was the was the first suffered by Coghill out of the 15 bouts he’s had. His record now stands at 14 wins and one loss.

Reflecting on the fight Coghill was left frustrated feeling that late on he was not himself in the ring.

‘There’s a frustration because I rushed my work in those last rounds and lunged in, that’s not me. 

‘I’m not making excuses, Hopey is a great fighter, he’s a top lad and he caught me with some good shots.’
