Chelsea break record attendance in match against Arsenal as the blues seek new home

CHELSEA hosted Arsenal at Stamford Bridge in a WSL top of the table clash this weekend. The Blues saw a record attendance at the Bridge with 30,545 turning up for the London derby.

The blues usually play their home games at the Kingsmeadow stadium in Kingston which has a capacity of 4850 and is often sold out.

The club hosted Arsenal at Stamford Bridge this weekend in a bid to set a record attendance and even the attendance gap between them and rivals Arsenal.

Arsenal women play all their home games at the Emirates stadium to push the numbers in attendance. This has worked perfectly for the Gunners, with attendances this season averaging over the 30,000 mark.

The Arsenal Woman supporters group was founded in 2015, and was set up to build a community as well as facilitating match-day experiences. One of these being the march to the ground which they host every match.

Chelsea are now looking to follow on from Arsenal’s footsteps and increase attendances at their home games, with rumours of a switch of ground.

With a 30,000 plus attendance on the weekend it would seem the woman have outgrown their current Stadium. So it comes as no surprise that the heir-achy are searching for a change.

We were at Stamford Bridge on the weekend asking the fans their opinions on the attendance gap, and how it can be resolved.
