SOLENT Kestrels have won two championships in-a-row after their victory over City of London Academy on Saturday.
The Kestrels gained promotion last season from the NBL Division Two – Pool B last season to get back into the third tier of English basketball.
This season the Southampton based side have excelled in both league and cup competition.
In February, Solent Kestrels won the National Cup against Manchester Magic in Worcester to win their third NBL National Cup in seven years.
Solent Kestrels sealed the league title on Saturday defeating CoLA 87-49 to win the Championship.
There is still one game to play for the Kestrels, away at the London Stars who sit 10th in the league, bottom of the teams that have participated this season.
Andre Arissol is the captain of the side who have made the double this season. He rejoined the side at the start of the 2024/25 season after being at the club previously.
Andre explained how the Kestrels are exactly where they’d hope to be:
“Fortunately we are in a position in this part of the season to be able to say that we are exactly where we hoped we would be. Also the training has reflected that.”
The season is not over though as the play-offs are fast approaching.
Four teams from Pool A and four teams from Pool B will compete to win the play=offs.
Kestrels have only lost twice so far this season, losing to City of London Academy and Barking Abbey.
Heading into the play-offs, Solent Kestrels will hope to do the treble, winning every competition they’ve been in.
Josh Wyatt-Jones headed to the training session before their fixture against CoLA to see how to team are looking.
