MOROCCO and Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi is set to face trial, following an allegation of rape made against him.
The UEFA Champions League winner has been accused by a female of raping her at his Paris home in 2023. Hakimi has swiftly denied the allegations.
The public prosecutor’s office in Nanterre opened an investigation in March 2023. However, no court date has yet been set for the trial.
Responding to the claims on X, Hakimi had his say on the case:
“Today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial,”
“This is as unjust to the innocent as it is to the genuine victims. I calmly await this trial, which will allow the truth to come out publicly.”
The 27-year-old was instrumental for PSG last season, making 48 appearances in all competitions: netting nine goals and providing 12 assists. Born in Spain, Hakimi is also a Moroccan international, having been capped on 82 occasions.
Hakimi’s superb performances earned the African Player of the Year award in 2025.
The Parisians are set to face AS Monaco in the Champions League round of 32. PSG come into the fixture with a 3-2 lead on aggregate, and the Morocco international is set to be included in the squad.
