A strongman event which was set up in honour of a Giants Live athlete has gone from strength to strength and recently took place outside St Mary’s Stadium.
The yearly gathering, that first started in 2020, has become so popular that it was decided to move this year’s version to the Northam fan zone nearby the home of Championship side Southampton FC.
Previous years have seen over 60 strongman athletes take part and over 200 spectators watch on. Big names in the sport have taken part in the classic, including Lucy Underdown, Andrea Thompson and Laurence Shahlaei.
The event is dedicated to the memory of the co-owner of The Barbell Division and popular figure in the strongman community Aaron Page, who passed away five years ago from Covid aged 31. The gym, based in Quayside Business Park in Bitterne has organised the annual test of strength ever since.
