Match Preview: High-flying Stockport County travel to Bristol Rovers

ON-FORM Stockport County will be hoping to win a sixth League one game on the spin tonight as they face Bristol Rovers.

It’s been a busy winter transfer window for the two clubs, who both have different goals to aim for this season.

At the turn of the year Stockport immediately lost key forward Louie Barry, who was recalled from his loan by Aston Villa, and sent to Championship side Hull City, a level more suited to his ability.

That departure has not stopped them dominating the division, they sit 4th in the table, winning five of their six league games since.

Louie Barry’s 15 league goals will be tough to replace over the course of the next few months, but the addition of Micah Hamilton on loan from Middlesbrough is a signing all fans are excited by, who was only recently part of the set up at Manchester City.

Bristol Rovers have had an encouraging transfer window, signing a good mix of experienced League 1 players and young players who have huge potential.

Romaine Sawyers and Matt Butcher has given The Gas much-needed experience in their midfield with over 600 EFL games between them.

Sil Swinkels from Aston Villa should also help them sort out their leaky defence.

The 21 year old signed on loan on deadline day, and already faced League one opposition this season, playing 90 minutes to help Aston Villa to a 2-1 win over Wycombe in the Carabao Cup.
