A massive 1050 people took part in the Southampton Parkrun last Saturday morning, with 102 of the runners being first timers.
The Southampton parkrun is a weekly event, taking place in the Southampton Common.
People turn out in their hundreds every Saturday morning at 9am to take part in the 5k run, having the opportunity to improve their physical health, whilst also socialising with others.
The Parkrun is free for people to register and take part, and is run by volunteers who ensure the safety of all participants.
Newcomer to the event Matt, 53 said:
“I really enjoy running because it allows me to get outside and challenge myself. I have a really stressful job and I work inside a lot so to be out at the end of the day allows me to kind of clear my head, keep fit and keep myself moving.”
Parkrun operate up and down the country, with 1,363 events taking place each weekend, with more and more being added in the future.
