ALDERSHOT Town boss Tommy Widdrington has signed a new deal with the Hampshire club.
The former Southampton player helped keep the Shots in the National League last season following his arrival from King’s Lynn Town late in the 2022-23 campaign.
Widdrington’s side have been performing above expectations so far this season and currently find themselves in the play-off places.
Aldershot haven’t disclosed the length of Widdrington’s extension, but the club will be thrilled to keep hold of the man who recently masterminded a 7-4 win at Swindon Town in the FA Cup first-round.
The Hampshire side made history in their upset against the Robins, becoming the first non-league team to score seven against a league opponent in an FA Cup tie.
After signing his new contract, Widdrington said: “It’s been really positive since I came here and I think the club and I see the same thing.”
“When I was offered the opportunity to sit down with the chairman, he was very, very positive himself.”
“I’ll never get sick of people tapping me on the back and telling us how well we’re doing, but I truly believe it’s only the start and there’s a longer-term picture here.”
