BRISTOL City have completed the signing of Aldershot Town youngster Josh Stokes for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £250,000.
The deal is a record sale for Aldershot Town and includes further add-ons, most notably a 10% sell-on clause if Stokes is sold by City in the future.
The move will see Stokes remain with the Shots for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign, on loan from the Championship club.
Stokes arrived at Aldershot from AFC Sudbury in the summer of 2023, and he has scored 16 goals in 29 appearances for the National League club so far.
His fine form attracted the interest of many clubs, and the Robins fought off interest from both Coventry City and Premier League side Brentford to secure his signature.
City’s Technical Director Brian Tinnion was delighted to sign one of the hottest prospects in the lower leagues.
“Josh is a fantastic talent who will only improve.
“We wish him all the best for the remainder of the season with Aldershot and look forward to seeing him in the summer.” said Tinnion.
Stokes is looking forward to taking the next step in his career and getting started at Ashton Gate in the near future.
“I’m delighted to sign for Bristol City, it’s a massive club with huge ambition.
“They’re a club that gives young players an opportunity and I’m looking forward to the next few years,” said Stokes.
